UMT Offers New Accredited Associate and Bachelor Degrees in Civil Engineering
ARLINGTON, Virginia, February 18, 2026
The University of Management and Technology (UMT) has received official approval from the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC) to launch two new degree programs: the Associate of Science in Civil Engineering (ASCE) and the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE).
Following a rigorous review by DEAC subject specialists, the commission confirmed that UMT’s civil engineering curriculum meets high standards of academic excellence and distance education quality. These programs are designed to provide students with the foundational science, mathematics, and design principles required to support the civil engineering infrastructure of the future.
The addition of the ASCE and BSCE programs marks a milestone in UMT’s mission to provide accessible, career-focused education. As global demand for qualified civil engineers continues to grow, particularly in regions with high economic growth, these programs will equip students with the technical expertise needed for roles in structural design, building construction, transportation systems, urban planning, environmental engineering, and related fields.
"We are thrilled to move forward with implementing these new educational offerings," said Dr. Eric Kirkland, UMT Provost and CAO. "This approval validates our commitment to rigorous STEM education and provides our students with a clear pathway into a vital and high-demand profession."
UMT is prepared to begin implementing these programs immediately. Prospective students interested in the Associate of Science or Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering are encouraged to contact the Admissions Office at admissions@umtweb.edu or visit www.umtweb.edu for curriculum details.
